Job Specification: Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Join us as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and play a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of our platform and core services. You’ll lead projects across our tech stack, taking them from planning through to delivery and maintenance, while fostering collaboration within the team.


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement solutions to ensure the highest standards of availability, scalability, performance, and security.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring solutions, metric-driven alerting, logging, and tracing.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical environments and lead incident responses.
  • Establish and measure SLIs/SLOs, working closely with engineering teams to improve collaboration.
  • Automate infrastructure and application management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation (paid).
  • Lead by example through pair programming, knowledge sharing, and training sessions.
  • Write clear tickets, documentation, and technical designs to support the team.

  • Passion for evolving SRE best practices and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Self-driven and eager to improve processes with automation and monitoring.
  • Willing to travel to UK data centres if necessary.

Experience and Skills

While you don’t need expertise in all areas, experience in the following is beneficial:

  • Background in SRE/DevOps
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with public cloud services (GCP, AWS) and hybrid environments.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Agile practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Knowledge of network management, PostgreSQL, and security frameworks (CIS, NIST, OWASP).
  • Programming skills in one or more languages: Ruby, Java, Go, Bash/Shell.
