Position: Head of Platform
Location: Remote Salary: Up to £150,000 (Negotiable for the right candidate)

About Us: Join our dynamic organization as we embark on an exciting new journey! With a workforce of 1200 developers, we are seeking a Head of Platform to collaborate closely with our Vice President and lead the charge in shaping the future of our technology landscape.

Responsibilities: As the Head of Platform, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and efficiency across our organization. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Team Growth: Spearhead the expansion of our platform team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

  2. Best Practice Implementation: Introduce and champion industry best practices to enhance the overall performance and effectiveness of our platform.

  3. Platform Development: Lead the development of a new platform from inception to implementation, ensuring scalability and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of our organization.

  4. Cloud Migration and Kubernetes Expertise: Oversee the migration of our platform to the cloud (Azure, Multi Cloud) and manage on-premises Kubernetes infrastructure, optimizing performance and reliability.

  5. Developer Experience Enhancement: Focus on improving the Developer Experience (DX) by implementing tools and processes that streamline workflows and boost productivity.

  6. Advocacy for Modern Practices: Engage with developers to encourage the adoption of modern 'DevOps' practices and tools, facilitating a smooth transition to contemporary ways of working.

  7. Cross-Team Communication: Effectively communicate and collaborate across different teams, fostering a cohesive and collaborative environment.

Requirements: To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • Proven experience in team leadership and growth within a large-scale development organization.
  • Expertise in implementing best practices and driving cultural change.
  • Demonstrated success in building platforms from scratch.
  • Strong proficiency in Kubernetes and cloud platforms (Azure, Multi Cloud).
  • A track record of improving Developer Experience and advocating for modern development practices.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with reluctant developers and cross-functional teams.
