We are supporting a key player in the aerospace industry, based in the Rhein-Main metropolitan area.  Providing IT services, infrastructure solutions and project management services within aerospace for over 40 years, they are a household name globally for supporting space projects.

They are now seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with strong knowledge of Kubernetes to join their System Engineering team for client satellite launch projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

Responsibilities

  • The Engineer will provide support to the ICT Engineering Team in the delivery of ICT engineering services to multiple clients;
  • The work shall include analysis of the requirements; design, integration, validation and documentation of ICT solutions; handover to operations;
  • Level 3 support for incidents and problems;
  • Technical IT Coordination between IT and other client teams;
  • Project Management services to client.

What You'll Bring to the Role:
Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science (or equivalent);
  • At least 5 years’ experience as IT Systems Engineer, in a customer facing role;
  • The successful candidate will have strong results-oriented and planning capabilities, coupled with very good problem-solving skills and a pronounced customer focus;
  • Applicants should have good communication and negotiation skills, be able to work in a diverse team environment and accomplish goals in line with team objectives;
  • Experience operating critical IT infrastructure environments, working in mixed operating system and database environments, managing technical service transition, creation and maintenance of support documentation;
  • Strong curiosity for modern technologies and the motivation to master them

Essential Skills

  • Expert knowledge and significant work experience of Linux OS (RHEL, SLES and derivatives), system administration and customization;
  • Good knowledge of automation technologies and tools such as Chef, Puppet and/or Ansible;
  • Excellent knowledge and working experience with Docker and Kubernetes;
  • Supporting solutions running in Cloud Services;
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects on critical IT infrastructure;
  • Experience in package management and related tools (rpmbuild, yast, yum)
  • An advanced-level command of English and an ability to present output in a clear, concise and understandable way, both orally and in writing;
  • Proactive approach and lead on the technical response to problems;
  • Requirements analysis and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently;
  • Good communication, team oriented and mediation skills
